Hi.
I'm Jackson Folwell and I'm a graphic designer. I enjoy many parts of the design industry such as motion design, logo design, package design, and branding but above all I want to create beautiful work. I strive to be different and bold in my design through well thought out planning and attention to detail. My design style is constantly evolving with each new visual challenge and experience, and I look forward to continuing to grow as a designer for the rest of my life.
EDUCATION
I have studied many traditional artistic techniques from painting to ceramics, but it is graphic design that I fell in love with. In a few short years through great professors and learning about the world and history of design I have developed a style and eye for design. Being recently graduated I am excited to start a fulfilling career in design using everything I have learned from my time at Marshall.

EXPERIENCE
Starr design is a branding agency that specializes in architecture and developing branded environments. We primarily did work in the restaurant industry but also created spaces for shopping centers & corporate offices. Many different kinds of designers are involved when making a branded environment from scratch. Architects, interior designers, graphic designers & engineers all worked together as a team to design spaces that no single person could ever create. This was my first proper full time job as a graphic designer and I learned so much about environmental design. I was truly in the drivers seat for all of my projects, even as a junior designer, I was working closely with clients making design decisions that had a huge impact on the projects. I worked with sign manufacturers and learned the production process that our work goes through and how to manage them. From food trucks to websites Starr Design gave me the opportunity to jump head first into so many new areas of design. I always felt like I was learning and moving forward as a designer, and that is what I will strive for in every job I will ever have.
Peake media publishes magazines to help fitness professionals excel in their respective industry, it is here where I learned page layout and the many other technical skills required to make the four publications on strict deadlines. I started interning for Peake in the summer of 2016 and worked with them until my graduation in May of 2017. I have gotten the chance to work closely with great designers on projects such as branding for leadership retreats. Updated websites through Wordpress, and learned many valuable skills in regards to page layout. The strongest skill I have learned from my time at Peake is adapting to different situations. When designing for a magazine the aesthetic of that page or spread changes in relation to the content creating an interesting challenge with every article. The Barnes Agency was my first internship which I did from spring of 2016 to summer of 2016. As a design agency there was no specific thing we did there, the work varied wildly and that is what I liked most about it. Through the process of working closely with other designers at Barnes I learned valuable things about the programs we use in this industry and further developed my design. Barnes was the first time I spent talking to clients about work helping me form key communication skills necessary when validating your design. The Barnes Agency was a great first step into the real world of design and taught me many great things in regards to the business and artistic sides of design. The fine line designers walk between working for the client and ourselves was made very apparent durring my time there and I learned very much from it.
